The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation responded to a joint communiqué issued by fifteen states criticising diplomatic engagement with Somaliland.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland has rejected a joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of fifteen states criticising the appointment of an envoy to Somaliland. The Ministry stated that Somaliland's sovereignty rests on its independence of 26 June 1960 and the restoration of that independence on 18 May 1991, and that its recognition is "a grounded legal reality, not a matter of political convenience". The Ministry reaffirmed that Somaliland determines its own foreign relations and will continue to build partnerships that serve the security and prosperity of its people.

Wasaaradda Arrimaha Dibadda iyo Iskaashiga Caalamiga ee Jamhuuriyadda Somaliland waxay diidday warqad wadajir ah oo ay soo saareen wasiirrada arrimaha dibadda ee shan iyo toban dal, taasoo dhaleecaysay xiriirka diblomaasiyadeed ee Somaliland. Wasaaraddu waxay xustay in madax-bannaanida Somaliland ay ku salaysan tahay xornimadii 26-kii Juun 1960 iyo soo celinta xornimada 18-kii Maajo 1991, iyo in aqoonsigeeda yahay "xaqiiqo sharci ku dhisan, ee maaha arrin ku xiran macaash siyaasadeed". Wasaaraddu waxay xaqiijisay in Somaliland ay iyada qeexdo xiriirkeeda dibadda, waxayna sii wadi doontaa dhisidda iskaashi u adeegaya amniga iyo barwaaqada shacabkeeda.
